Orkid, focused on facilitating the lives of women in many areas of life and supporting them, has taken action for girls in the earthquake-affected region in collaboration with Suna’nın Kızları. The brand became the main sponsor by covering the setup costs of the Children's Life Center established by Suna’nın Kızları within the Koç Community's Hope Town in Hatay-Antakya, aiming to provide girls in the area easier access to hygienic environments, necessary sanitary pad support, and essential education for students. Orkid also provided sanitary pad support to the region.
Orkid, P&G's leading feminine care brand, has been working for over 40 years to make life easier for all women and support them in every field. The brand, which implements various projects focusing on sports and education, is now becoming a supporter of women in the earthquake region. Following the earthquakes that affected 11 provinces, Orkid started a collaboration with Suna’nın Kızları, focused on creating safe and supportive environments for the development of children affected by the earthquake and supporting the unique needs of girls. Orkid became the main sponsor by covering the setup costs of the Children's Life Center established within the Koç Community's Hope Town in Hatay, aiming to address the needs of all children in the region, especially girls aged 12-18. In addition to this support, Orkid also met the one-year sanitary pad needs of girls in all the Children's Life Centers established in the earthquake-affected areas.
Sustainable Support for Hatay
Speaking about the Hygiene Cabin and the support implemented in collaboration with Suna’nın Kızları in Hatay, Dr. Onur Yaprak, CMO and Vice President of Marketing for P&G Türkiye, Caucasus, and Central Asia, said, "Our focus has always been to stand by women and respond to their needs. In line with this, following the earthquake disaster on February 6th that affected 11 of our provinces, we started our work on the hygiene needs in the regions. From the first day, we supported the areas with portable toilets and our products. To make our support sustainable, we started the Hope House movement. Thus, we focused on expanding the movement of hope by supporting the initiatives of our brands and the projects of civil society organizations operating in the region. At this point, our paths crossed with Suna’nın Kızları. They, like the brand vision of Orkid, had started working in the region with the goal of addressing the unique needs of girls and facilitating access to services for all children. Within this framework, we became the main sponsor by covering the setup costs of the Children's Life Center established by Suna’nın Kızları within the Koç Community's Hope Town in Hatay. In addition to our support for the supportive and safe workshop activities and overall operation of the Children's Life Center, we have installed pads and waste bins at the hygiene points in the Children's Life Center, which are used by about 30 girls every day, and made renewals. With the steps we have taken, we aim to resolve the most basic needs of the girls present there. In the coming period, we will continue our work as Orkid to nurture confident generations," he said.
Burcu Gündüz Maşalacı, General Coordinator of Suna’nın Kızları, said, "As Suna’nın Kızları, we develop our strategies and implement our applications focusing on the unique needs of girls. In this context, it is very valuable to be collaborating with a brand that works towards the needs of girls and women in our Children's Life Centers established in temporary shelter areas, where opportunities addressing the unique needs of girls, especially those aged 12-18, are very limited. I believe that our collaboration with Orkid is a good example of how spaces can be developed together with and for girls, based on child safety and child participation. This collaboration also underscores the importance of the collective impact approach by showing that the private sector and civil society organizations can work together and in a coordinated manner towards a common goal. Knowing that our collaboration with Orkid will be sustainable is also very valuable in this sense."
